An incident in Buffy's life badly frightens Joyce, leading her to try and play cupid for her eldest daughter. She learns the hard way, however, that her meddling could cause easily as much damage to Buffy's life as Buffy's own poor choices. There is, of course, someone else for her to focus her meddling ways on, someone who's own life is about as low as it can be.

Enter one Xander Harris, unemployed rescuer of Slayers extrodinaire.
